I’ve always been enthralled by the act of communication and the resulting confusion that occurs because of the differences in people, their backgrounds, and their expectations.  I’m especially interested in expressions used to add clarification through analogy and localized humor.

Drawing inspiration from such jargon, I carefully dissect each phrase, meditating upon each tiny detail, and identify within each an essential, intangible quality.  These fragile and tenuous attractions find formal bearing through a variety of traditional sculptural practices merged with appropriated objects.

I am motivated by a love of traditional media and fabrication techniques, including woodcarving and the lost wax bronze casting technique.  The satisfaction of communication between the work and the audience is paired with the joy and rest I find through the lengthy process of making.
